BRIEF BIO: 1905. Thomas is a former priest and Christian missionary to China who lost his faith when he was persecuted and tortured in the Boxer Rebellion, who has spent the last five years drifting aimlessly and languishing in his laudanum addiction. The only thing to draw him out of his malaise is love for his dear sister, Jennifer, who has been kidnapped and held for ransom by a sinister cult living on an island named Erisden. Thomas travels to Erisden undercover to rescue his sister, and while there discovers the presence of a true goddess, known simply as Her, who is capable of causing the barren land to flourish and bear crops, in exchange for feeding on flesh and blood. She is the deity of the cult, but has been chained up and reduced to the status of a machine. Thomas is chosen by Her as a replacement, and though he helps Jennifer escape, he stays behind, a new guardian of the island with powers to match.

APPEARANCE: Clothes a little ill-fitting and crumpled, hair a little lank and unkempt (the haircut was obviously his own work), and with the telltale red undereyes of a man with a debilitating addiction to laudanum that he's trying to kick. His posture is hunched, sometimes he develops a limp after walking for a while, and he carries himself quite tightly and very angrily.
IDENTIFYING MARKS: Besides a general aura of someone who has recently been beat to shit, Thomas is notably missing the last three fingers of his left hand, leaving only a thumb and index finger. He's fairly littered with scars, including six stab wounds in his left side and a thin scar, about two inches across, on his neck. He also has a number of scars on his back, including a burn in the shape of a crucifix that stretches over his shoulders and down his spine.

MENTAL STATE: It's complicated, but basically: not great. Thomas's entire worldview has recently been irrevocably shaken. He has a renewed although complicated faith in the divine, though his relationship with any God as Christianity describes it is still fraught and uneasy. Thomas has not yet had the time to examine the existence of Her in the context of his ruined relationship with Christianity.
Besides his still complex issues with religion, Thomas is still an addict and will be for the rest of his life, so he'll be in prime position to suffer withdrawals and potentially relapse should he gain access to laudanum (or a replacement). He also functionally has very little to actually live for now that he knows Jennifer is safe, and will need to learn to give a shit about his own mental and physical wellbeing in a survival situation, as well as the safety of others.

ABILITIES
Thomas is capable of growing small flowers and patches of grass or moss wherever his blood lands (ex. β image shows blood!). The flora will bloom quickly, and if there's other native flora in the area then it will match whatever is around it. Once the flora has grown, it's indistinguishable from other similar flora, and it can reproduce to create more of itself.
IC PERMISSIONS
PHYSICAL AFFECTION: ICly, Thomas isn't a particularly cuddly guy and he broadcasts enormous "don't touch me" vibes, so he's kind of spiky in that regard, but OOCly please hug him, he needs it.
FLIRTING: Sure! He's not great at it, but honestly it would be kind of funny, so go ahead.
RELATIONSHIPS: I'm open to anything that might come up, but he'll be a pretty slow burn, romantically speaking. Ex-priest and all, but also kind of generally speaking he's not exactly boyfriend goals.
SEX: Sure! Again, slow burn necessary for various reasons, but I'm happy to play it out or fade to black.
FIGHTING: Always yes, go crazy, but talking OOC would be cool just so we know where things are going!
INJURY/DEATH: Feel free to injure him as much as you please and if death is about to happen then so it shall be, but again OOC chats would be helpful.
PSYCHIC INFORMATION: Thomas will hate the idea of people rooting around in his brain, but OOCly speaking I'm happy to play this stuff out, just know Thomas won't be happy about it.
